On programming days, interns will have a full day centered on CHCI’s four Pillars of Leadership—Civic Engagement, Social Responsibility, Self Empowerment, and Promoting Community and Hispanic Culture. During these weekly sessions, participation in discussions surrounding issues that affect the Latino community will help interns explore a variety topics while building strong relationships that can help throughout their career. CHCI’s curriculum is centered around a graduate-level non-credit public policy course taught by The George Washington University Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute and Trachtenberg School of Public Policy.

CHOOSE A SUMMER OR SEMESTER INTERNSHIP

With CHCI internships offered year-round, students can apply for the program that best fits their college timeline and schedule. Their school may even offer academic credit for the internship experience.

CONNECT WITH POWERFUL LATINO LEADERS

CHCI interns will meet accomplished leaders—including CHCI Alumni— dedicated to improving the Latino community. These leaders come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including Capitol Hill, Fortune 500 companies, NGOs, nonprofits, and other organizations that support Latino education and leadership development.

GROW YOUR PROFESSIONAL NETWORK

During the Congressional Internship Program, interns build professional networks that open doors before and after graduation. This network includes the CHCI Alumni Association, made up of over 3,600 Latino professionals across the country who are ready to support each class in achieving their dreams.

COMMIT TO CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

CHCI interns will participate in both individual and group service hours to give back to the local D.C. community and better understand the importance of “paying it forward” for the next generation.

BUILD STRONG FRIENDSHIPS

CHCI interns come to D.C. from across the country and Puerto Rico. They will meet fellow Latinos from different heritages and backgrounds—learning as much from each other as from the program. As they work together, serve the community, and explore the nation’s capital, interns will build bonds that will last beyond the program.
